German-Slovene economics Day is the main business event of the Slovene-German Chamber of Commerce and the Industry (AHK Slovenia) traditionally organized in cooperation with IEDC Bled School of Management.
In the light of the current economic challenges and at the same time the great potential of Slovenia, the event is held under the title "Slovenia as a business location - seizing opportunities, shaping the future". High representatives of the Slovenian and German economy will speak about green transformation, energy security, sustainability and challenges related to Slovenia as a business location. Discussion will be based on the location study prepared by the Institute for the German Economy in Cologne (IW Consult) on behalf of the AHK Slovenia. Based on approximately 60 indicators in six substantive areas (location, infrastructure, knowledge, resources, costs, market), Slovenia is compared with the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia as competitors in the region.
The event will also officially announce the recipient of the German Economy Award, which is traditionally awarded by the AHK Slovenia in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Slovenia and IEDC Bled School of Management.

Host: Siemens
Moderated by Špela Ajdišek Robič, Senior Legal Counsel and Co-head of Practice Group New technologies
Emerging technologies have the potential to significantly impact industries, transform businesses, bring about new business models and disrupt several professions. On the one hand side, they are said to bring multiple benefits to the economy and society across entire spectrum of value chain. On the other, their use can also potentially result in new or changed risks for individuals or society. Could regulation help mitigate these risks? What kind of regulation would best fit our needs? What is European approach to AI, Data and other new technologies? How are constant changes in geopolitical landscape adding to the complexity of different regulatory frameworks, when expanding a business cross-border or globally? Let's share our perspectives and experience about these pivotal questions.
4.How can the German supply chain law be implemented through sustainable procurement practices?
Host: JARO Institute for Sustainability and Digitalization
Moderated by Yvonne Jamal, Co-Founder and CEO JARO Institute for Sustainability and Digitalization &
Steffi Kirchberger, Managing Director JARO Services GmbH
The German Supply Chain Act obliges German companies with more than 3000 employees from 1/1/2023 (and with more than 1000 employees from 1/1/2024) to implement human rights due diligence, especially when working with direct suppliers. Therefore, many Slovenian companies are also facing the challenge of how to implement and document sustainable business practices and where to find concrete support for this. In this workshop, we will present the objectives of the law together with you and derive initial implementation measures. We will also look at which internal and external stakeholders can accompany or support you in this process.
